Why collaborate?

People are fairly split on the meaning of “2.0″ — is it signal or noise? I offer the following quote for evidence for the former:

“In the long history of humankind (and animal kind, too) those who learned to collaborate and improvise most effectively have prevailed”

You have to love Darwin. One word that was repeated in my public administration coursework (career 1.0) was the importance of synergy among group members. The value that we can create is amplified as we incorporate other important elements. Does this mean open collaboration and invite everyone? God no. The last thing you want is to bring the wrong people. However, this should not be a reason to avoid collaboration. Use technology to connect people to information and each other.  As a manager of people or a process, facilitation means translating perceptions and points of view in order to maximize process synergy.

Take that 2.0 naysayers.
